Maxillofacial Surgery
Modern dentistry makes it possible to preserve most teeth that require treatment, and tooth extraction is used quite rarely. Nevertheless, if conservative treatment is impossible, extraction often becomes necessary.
Tooth Extraction
Indications for extraction include:
  • Teeth that are a source of infection and cause purulent inflammation
  • A tooth so severely damaged that it has no functional value
  • Longitudinal tooth fracture
  • Significant tooth mobility (Grade 3)
  • Teeth are often removed for orthodontic reasons.

The loss of even one tooth is a serious problem. After extraction, the bone in that area is subjected to increased chewing pressure, leading to bone loss. As a result, neighboring teeth begin to bear additional load, which causes their wear, abrasion, or shifting. The opposing tooth, which no longer contacts a chewing surface, begins to move downward. The longer the tooth is missing, the greater the changes and deformations throughout the dental arch. This, in turn, negatively affects the chewing process, reduces bite height, and leads to changes in the temporomandibular joints. Therefore, a removed tooth should be replaced as soon as possible.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
A wisdom tooth is the only tooth with ambiguous anatomy, and due to its remote location, it often causes more problems than it actually helps with chewing food. Wisdom tooth extraction is a common procedure, but due to its location, the procedure is not simple. It has certain features that should be considered during treatment. Indications for wisdom tooth extraction:
  • Problems with development where the wisdom tooth may erupt for too long.
  • A tendency for the wisdom tooth to grow, where it may “push” other teeth, causing crowding or causing excruciating pain during eruption.
  • Inflammatory processes may occur during the formation of wisdom teeth, which can lead to damage to neighboring teeth or the formation of cysts.
  • Lack of space for the complete removal of wisdom teeth.
  • The wisdom tooth is affected by caries.
Before wisdom tooth extraction, a preliminary consultation and 3D imaging are necessary to assess the location, direction of growth, and number of roots of the tooth that needs to be removed.

Oral surgery also includes procedures such as gingivoplasty, trimming of the tongue and frenulum, implantation, bone grafting (augmentation), lifting of the oral floor, and various operations for paired gum diseases. The full range of services offered can be viewed at the reception desk.
