Implantation is a modern technique that allows the restoration of missing teeth by inserting a titanium post into the bone tissue, onto which a crown is later placed.
This method provides a functional and complete replacement for lost teeth.
Implantation can be used to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or even an entire arch of missing teeth. Modern titanium alloy implants ensure almost 100% biocompatibility with human tissues. The crowns placed on implants are made of zirconium dioxide, which is currently the best material for implant-supported prosthetics.
Another important advantage is that during implantation, neighboring teeth do not need to be ground down, and chewing forces are evenly distributed across the dental arch. It’s also much easier to clean separately standing implant-supported crowns compared to traditional bridgework.
Stages of Implantation
Diagnosis
When determining the need for dental implantation, the implantologist develops an individual treatment plan, consisting of several stages.
Oral Preparation
The oral cavity must be fully sanitized before surgery. Professional plaque and tartar cleaning is required, as well as treatment of cavities and any existing dental issues.
Implantation
This is the main surgical stage, during which the implant is inserted into the bone tissue. The healing and osseointegration (bone bonding) process is then carefully monitored.
Prosthetics
At the next stage, a crown is fabricated and installed. The time between implantation and prosthetics typically ranges from 2 to 6 months, depending on the implant system used and the patient’s bone condition.
3D modeling is used to accurately calculate the optimal placement of future implants. Based on these calculations, a surgical guide is created, allowing the dentist to position the implants precisely during the procedure.
Of course, dental implantation is a complex and highly skilled procedure that requires an experienced specialist.
